Dont forget your pets: Natural Pet Care Products

July 27th, 2009

When it comes to organic, eco-friendly products, we usually think of  bath, body, baby, home, and garden products.  But what about our pets?  Soaps and shampoos, litter boxes, flea repellents and odor control products can have a negative impact on the health of your pets as well as our health.

Here are a few reasons to use natural products for your pets.

Environment

  • Harsh chemicals used in many conventional pet care products will eventually make their way into the water supply, soil and air affecting both indoor air and outdoor air quality.
  • Most natural products are not animal tested whereas many conventional companies do engage in that practice.

The health of your pets

  • Animals naturally lick their fur and will ingest the chemicals that are used on them making them ill.
  • Some pet shampoos contains pesticides that can trigger reactions from allergies to more serious health problems.
  • Synthetic compounds in flea and tick remedies can damage animals skin and fur.
  • Synthetic chemical products used on our pets can affect our health too.

I couldnt agree more with this post! So great, thank you for the tips! I wanted to also share a terrific eco-friendly product I use on the hair my cat Mister leaves everywhere he goes. It’s called Fur-Zoff and it’s made of recycled materials and has a lifetime guarantee. You can find it at http://www.FurZoff.net for about $10. I hope this helps! Thanks again!

  7. Natural products are always the better choice but are not always effective depending on where you live. I have tried natural products for fleas but summer in Florida is a hard place to make natural flea remedies work.
