The title says it all.
“A new study finds that young children have high levels of chemical fire retardants in their blood.”
Read about it in USA Today and watch video from NBC Today Show
What do you think? Do you think that fire retardant chemicals really pose a risk in humans, particularly children? What can we do as individuals to reduce exposure and health issues from theses chemicals?
Hi Carla,
What an interesting article. I just clicked over to the one on USA, too. This seems to raise the issue of what things are made of, how our children are exposed to these chemicals, and what controls the government should put on these “additives”. I do think there should be more regulation on what is brought into our country (imports), and also as parents, we need to be educated consumers.
You are so right. I cant help but to wonder how we are all affected by some of these chemicals in our products. The best we can do is do the best we can from what we learn. I too think there should be more regulation because as much as we need to be educated consumers, there is a limit as to what most people can do.
I don’t know. We are surrounded by chemicals. Periodically, we find out that stuff we’ve been using is cancerous or toxic. Recent scares: the sunscreen scare, the plastic bottle scare, the lead in lunchboxes scare. And many others.
I think that trying to stick to natural and organic as much as possible is our best bet.
@Vered – and reading labels!
I heard something similar to this a few years ago. SO many moms have no clue what hazards are in the chemicals used on their kids clothing.
